Pele’s Smoke
One Piece
Limited edition print
This is performance art wear from my Duty-Free Paradise project performance series. This print is made from images of Pele’s Smoke sugarcane, endemic to Hawaii. It references the sugar plantation fields in Kahuku Village and sugar plants in Waipahu on Oahu, HI. Where Asunción’s grandparents came from the Philippines in the 1920’s to work and their father was born and raised. This print is made to honor Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes and fire and the creator of the Hawaiian Islands.
This is performance art wear from my Duty-Free Paradise project, this design is from the ‘Secret Stations’ series.
